For seven years Saila juggled three jobs to support Dante, her blind and bankrupt husband. During a volunteer shift at a welfare home, she unknowingly comforts Cotter, the severely autistic son of the world's richest man, Setrick. Setrick faces a custody hearing and needs a wife to appear stable. Saila returns home to discover Dante's infidelity, then learns she is heir to a powerful family and that her years of hardship were a test of her character. She demands a divorce, but Dante, wielding economic control, leaves her with nothing and turns her daughter against her.
