Becky Jacobs agrees to become Nick Walton’s contract lover under strict conditions—and a 10 million dollar penalty if either of them breaks them. Their arrangement is meant to stay clear of romance, while Becky must also avoid pregnancy. For three years, the relationship is governed by rules designed to keep emotions and consequences under control. But the agreement is already failing where it matters most: Nick Walton has fallen in love with Becky Jacobs and intends to get engaged to her. That plan clashes with the expectations of Nick’s mother, who wants him to marry someone else to secure an alliance. As Becky and Nick face the terms they created, their carefully limited affair becomes a struggle between private feelings, family pressure, and the cost of breaking the deal.
