Evelyn Walker, a pack healer, finds Alpha Dominic wounded after an ambush. A silver bullet coated in wolfsbane has left him in danger, and she treats him despite his ruthless reputation. To evade the attackers, Dominic kisses her—an encounter that changes the stakes between them. During her care, he recognizes Evelyn as his mate, yet she feels no corresponding bond. Already committed to Harrison and living without a wolf of her own, Evelyn has little reason to accept Dominic’s claim. Dominic, however, refuses to let the connection go and takes her captive, turning their clash into a struggle over choice and loyalty. As Evelyn resists his possessive pursuit, the bond’s pull complicates her feelings and threatens the path she had chosen. Their conflict begins with a wounded alpha, a healer’s compassion, and a connection only one of them can feel.
