Jennifer Connor is a doctor determined to find experimental treatment for her sick sister, Mia, after their parents’ death. When an explosion destroys Jennifer’s lab, billionaire heir Roman Johnson rescues the sisters, forcing Jennifer to confront her complicated history with her best friend—and the man with whom she once spent a night. Mia believes Roman could help Jennifer avoid facing everything alone. Jennifer proposes a short-term arrangement: she will present herself as Roman’s fiancée so his powerful father might restore the foundation funding her work. At the Johnson estate, the plan brings scrutiny from the family and household staff, while Roman’s former fiancée, Kim, begins questioning Jennifer’s story. As Jennifer and Roman navigate the performance, their private feelings make the arrangement harder to control, and Jennifer’s concealed truth threatens to surface.
