Shay Santos believes she is ready to take an important step with her boyfriend, Dean, but her plans collapse when she discovers him with Davina. The confrontation turns cruel as Shay is mocked for her appearance. Although she ends the relationship, Davina tells Dean not to allow Shay to leave, hinting that the betrayal may be part of a larger scheme. After the humiliation, Shay goes out with her BFF and makes an impulsive vow: she will sleep with the first man who approaches her. That man is Mal Haywood, a powerful Alpha whose immediate pull toward Shay crosses the boundary between humans and werewolves. Mal is also under a deadly curse. To survive, he must claim Shay as his mate and have a child with her, placing their sudden connection under impossible pressure.
