Ally Jones faces a frightening pregnancy after learning that she carries Alpha Cyrus’s child. Rashida delivers the news with a sorrowful expression, because Ally is human and no human has survived giving birth to an Alpha’s pup. With Ally’s health at risk, the sacred fruit of the Arbor Vitae appears to be the only possible cure—but its secrets may not be freely shared. Cyrus is Ally’s true mate, yet his attention seems fixed on another werewolf, Emma. As Ally grows weaker, her need for help collides with Cyrus’s apparent priorities. The story centers on whether he will act for the woman carrying his child, while Rashida’s guarded knowledge of the fruit leaves Ally facing painful uncertainty about her survival and her bond with Cyrus.
